Hi Reader, I've been in a time of deep reflection and planning since the start of the new year. Most of that reflection is around the future of Honeycomb and how I want this business to evolve as Chris and I begin to plan on having children. However, there are also other things that are coming up like a desire to break free from Instagram and create different methods for developing relationships. That's ultimately led me to begin writing again, this time on Substack. In today's post I'm kicking off a series about breaking free of norms and the culture of sameness that I'm seeing across all industries. Here's a little peek at what I'm discussing: "Millennials started this conversation. We wanted more out of our products/services/life and the market responded with a multitude of startups, solving our problems with beautiful branding and incredible unboxing experiences. Small brands were gaining loyal followings using out of the box marketing, leveraging social media and strong storytelling to build cult-like followings. And undeniably large companies started to notice. The impact of these small brands, supported by a host of imaginative creatives, freelancers, and small agencies, cannot be overstated. Their aesthetics, packaging choices, and marketing strategies are now seen at scale."
We kicked off the year with a beautiful brand for a D.C. based concierge gynecologist. Dr. Tara Abraham's brand is anchored by an elegant phoenix, a meaningful and personal symbol for her. Her website will be launching soon and our client Norton Interiors is helming her office design. Everything E and her team touches is elegant and stunning so I cannot wait to see how Dr. Abraham's brand comes to life in a physical space. Next week we are kicking off a very special project for my brother-in-law, a patent and IP lawyer, based in Philadelphia. I'd be lying if I said I haven't been dying to reimagine his brand and website since Chris and I met. So I cannot wait to get his transformation underway and make a statement with a legal website that is the opposite of boring. Stay tuned for that redesign, I'm certain you won't want to miss it! Studio UpdatesNow Booking for March and April Project Dates As we wrap up a major website project (a mammoth 75-page site!) I am excited to get back to our design intensives this spring. Below are our current project openings. March 10-14 | March 31 - April 4 | April 14 - 18 | April 28 - May 2 If you are interested in snagging one of these dates, let's chat! New Resources Coming After many conversations on discovery calls and client sessions, I am hearing some of the same requests over and over for specific resources around email marketing, design, and content. I've made notes and I'll be working on creating resources for each of them on a rolling basis. More on this soon! We’re working with our first farming client as a part of our new reciprocity program. In case you didn’t know, Chris and I have a piece of family land that we are rewilding in Tennessee called Mable and Jack. Over the past five years, we’ve become increasingly invested in our local food system and meeting farmers. It’s always been our goal to raise awareness for local producers and make a positive impact on awareness for the local food system. Last fall we partnered with Howling Fresh Farm, our local CSA using organic practices, to offer website design and marketing services via reciprocity. We’ve had the opportunity to help Ryan elevate his online presence and market in a strategic way as he looks to expand his membership for the 2025 season. This meaningful work is made possible by our incredible clients who trust us with their brands throughout the year. Your support allows us to give back to our local farming community and contribute to a cause close to our hearts. We look forward to partnering with more farms in 2025 to support this important work. Until next time, Callie |
Hi Reader, If your business has started to feel… off—you’re not imagining it. What used to work isn’t landing. Your offers and approach have evolved, but the messaging feels dated. Growth may be stagnant or slow and the direction feels blurry. I’ve been hearing some version of that from almost every business owner I talk to. And I’ve felt it in my own business too. This month marks 9 years since I started this business. In that time, I’ve worked with over 100 brands across more than 25...
Hi Reader, You know all those brand and business questions you have swirling around that go unanswered or worse that leave you spinning your wheels? Today, I'm launching something new called The Buzz – a hotline where you can text or leave voicemails with your burning branding questions! (601)-301-BUZZ (2899) Why? Because some of the most eye-opening moments in my career and business haven't come from strategy sessions, but in quick exchanges with fellow business owners where I casually bring...
