On expansion, letting things go, and exploring new territory

Well, Reader, it's been a minute...

I've not been in your inbox since the launch of Cowork and it's truly for no other reason than I've been in some really deep work lately. I've been in the kind of work that leaves me feeling both deeply fulfilled and at the same time without many "takeaways" or "learning lessons" or "hot takes".

I'm doing the kind of work I've always dreamed of: a convergence of my design skills with my "loves to solve a puzzle" marketing brain. The funny thing is, this wasn't the plan I had for 2024. 2024 was going to be all about additional income streams and fully booked out Brands in a Week and content creation. I thought I knew what my work would look like this year and the first 6 months played out exactly as I imagined. The summer, however, was filled with new discoveries and unearthed dreams that have started to shift my perspective of what I'm truly chasing.

The reality is that I'd put this kind of "dream work" out in to the universe for awhile and when the opportunity presented itself in April, Chris and I said YES not knowing exactly where that path would lead. It was a time-sensitive opportunity and a chance for us to make tangible, lasting impact on an organization that I deeply care about.

To my surprise, I'm obsessed with this work I'm doing. My calendar is littered with Coworking Sessions and Design Days, but but most of my days are filled with deep thinking about how to reinvent an organization's brand and bolster its future. It's filled with deep conversations with stakeholders so their needs are heard and long lists of items to prioritize.

And outside of that deep work, I'm in my studio playing with dried flowers or chatting with Chris while he cooks dinner or going on walks around our neighborhood or decorating spaces in our home.

This season is reminding me that all of this is information. Information for me to observe, to process, to sit with and then decide how I want to use it.

One thing I know for sure is that I'm in my "quiet business era". Being offline and taking "content creation" off my plate frees me up to be all-in on the work in front of me and the life Chris and I are cultivating. It gives me the space to deeply explore my mission to "make things beautiful and make beautiful things". Right now, I simply don't have capacity or desire to test, try, or experiment in my business. I'm leaning into my expertise, working in the depths, and focusing on delivering work that extends far beyond design.

So while you won't be seeing me on Instagram for the time being, I do plan on being here in your inbox from time to time sharing about branding, business, and life.

As always, thank you for being here. I'll chat with you soon!

Hi Reader, If your business has started to feel… off—you’re not imagining it. What used to work isn’t landing. Your offers and approach have evolved, but the messaging feels dated. Growth may be stagnant or slow and the direction feels blurry. I’ve been hearing some version of that from almost every business owner I talk to. And I’ve felt it in my own business too. This month marks 9 years since I started this business. In that time, I’ve worked with over 100 brands across more than 25...

Today, I'm launching something new called The Buzz – a hotline where you can text or leave voicemails with your burning branding questions! (601)-301-BUZZ (2899) Why? Because some of the most eye-opening moments in my career and business haven't come from strategy sessions, but in quick exchanges with fellow business owners where I casually bring...
